The Path called Process: How God corrects us

” Thoughts, these thoughts keep bombarding my mind. Familiar images and pictures of a girl…

Images and pictures of the girl that was… a place so dark, so harsh, so far. “

Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. -2 Corinthians 5:17

This is the verse that she held close to her heart. Pushing away the voice of the girl that once was. Pushing back the images of that old & familiar place.

“You are free from sin, you say, but look at your thoughts, look at the temper you had, look at what you said and did…. ” On and on, they went, giving evidence upon evidence… proof upon proof…

Slowly, she could feel her heart grow faint, not because she didn’t believe the word in her heart but because the familiarity of the girl that she once was, kept her in a loop of guilt and shame.

Only thing she didn’t realize is, she was stuck in the shadow, fragments of the dead & buried that the devil held up close. Because he knew that if he can hold those images just a bit longer.. this girl would conclude that what the shadows show must definitely be what is true of the image.

” My child…” He spoke, waiting and watching as His words to cut through the shadows.
“My child…”
He knew that the light of His Word was enough to break the shadows to reveal to her exactly what He did for her.. for them.

But there she was, crawled up in a corner, eyes shut, ears shut.

“My child… I know that you can hear. I being in you means that My voice can never be lost in the wind around you. You don’t have to say a thing, just open your ears to Me.”

“My child… I just didn’t give a word that your sins are forgiven. I came in the flesh so that I would fulfil the demands of the law….”

Interjecting Him, she squeaked, as she showed Him the shadows in her grasp, “You don’t understand… I have the evidence here, evidence of that girl, evidence of it all… “

But with her eyes shut and weighed down by the guilt and shame, she couldn’t see that her agreement to the shadows was what was giving them form.

“My child… I just didn’t put a band aid to your mistakes. No. I became your mistakes so that the wages of your mistakes would fall on Me. I took your judgement. I became the very image of the girl that you were.
And I died and when you received Me in your heart, I separated you from that girl and made you something new all together… just open your eyes and see…”

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. -Romans 6:6

And so she did, at first all was blurry.. not because the image wasn’t sure but because of her eyes were sore from the river of tears.

His words pierced through the shadows and now she could fully see that all along she was holding on to something that never was.

The light pierced her heart as she heard Him say, “My child… I didn’t put a shadow in you. I didn’t create you to be like Christ. I made you after the very Christ- Him in you, you in Him.

Now what that means is that:
Sin has nothing on you because it has nothing in you.
Death has nothing on you because it has nothing in you.
The devil has nothing on you because he has nothing in you.

The law, its demands and its consequences have nothing on you because it has nothing in you.

Jesus knew it, now you too should know it.

Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing IN me. -John 14:30

Only that which is in a man can define or defile the man.

So when the images of that familiar girl is put before you, remind that deceiver that she isn’t the girl in you.”

Slowly and surely she stood up, taking her Bible she began to look at Him that is in her, because that is who she is in this world.

She realized that shadows only linger when the light that reveals the true substance is hidden. And the thing about shadows is, they can never reveal the image.

Looking at the mirror of the Word, she realized all along she was holding on to the girl she never was just as the Word said

“And baby girl, next time, address what is with-out with what is with-in… ” He whispered, as the warmth of His smile and embrace washed over her heart and mind.
