” Baby girl, do you know that you don’t know who you are unless I reveal you to you? ”
This is a thought disguised as a rhetorical question that God presented to me. Truth be told, this wrecked me. ” What do You mean ? I thought I knew me. ” I didn’t first understand this. I’ve known me for 2 decades. As my mind lingered on this, He opened my eyes to see what He meant.
You see, we can’t say we know God the Father & Jesus Christ without revelation by the Holy Spirit. I mean, that’s why to so many people, all they know of God is just information & not a reality.
Revelation comes from the place of intimately experiencing God & revelation always addresses our perception of God & posture as we approach Him.
Allow me to digress. For so many people, God is a concept or an idea yet God desires that we know Him intimately. This explains why people have a double minded perception of who God is.
Let me now get back on track with what has been strong in my heart. Only the Holy Spirit reveals the nature of God.
“1 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”
After He showed me this, He asked me a question. ” Whose nature do you have since you are born again ? ”
I answered, ” I have God’s nature because now I’m born of God. ”
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:
John 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Something exploded in my heart. If knowing of God the Father is pegged on revelation by His Holy Spirit, so my knowing of me is pegged on revelation of God.
Why?
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
This stopped me in my tracks. Everything, literally everything that I associated to be my composition isn’t really me because I have a new nature.
That means my name changed.
You see, this set me free. And has shed light on what 2 Corinthians 3:18 is all about.
2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord.
This whole life is the undoing. Every born again believer is unbecoming everything they thought of themselves as.
Because as we behold Jesus, we begin to see who we really are, so names such as introvert, depressed, lonely, suicidal, failure, looser, etc stop being what we peg our identity to.
Because this changed nature also brought a change in our name.
For the past week that I didn’t post, I’ve allowed my heart to capture this truth. I’m allowing the Holy Spirit to change how I perceive God & how I perceive myself.
Our functioning is informed by what we perceive.
This has also changed what I name myself. You see, in the Kingdom of God, the name assigned to a creature is what determines its character.
When God wanted to call out His character in people, He gave them a name because He knew His word is what frames our worlds. ( Hebrews 11:2 )
Peter was called Rock
Gideon was called Mighty man of valor.
Abram was called Abraham which means Father of many nations.
But it didn’t end there, all these people had to agree with the name assigned to them. Otherwise they wouldn’t step into the nature & destiny pegged to that name.
Peter whose previous name meant reed, had to agree that he is a rock. And the more, he beheld this truth, his mind was being transformed, his perception was being rectified and was being aligned with truth.
This continues to change my thinking pattern. And right now, I’m on a journey of allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s nature and by doing so, I get to know who I am in Christ Jesus.
May this mess you up as it did me.
Well, that’s all for today’s post.
With love,
❤

Season of God breaking down perceptions and labels that He may build up something beautiful from the ashes. Beauty in the undoing .
#ForHisGlory
The undoings. He does it all for love. This is an affirmation and direction to the pursuit of Him.
Your ways, Your thoughts… They are what I need.
Unburden me from my ways and my thoughts and replace them with your ways and your thoughts.
How this looks like for me is repositioning, redefining and readjusting.
That is the kind of undoing that stood out😭😭😭
Yes…. Somee messing up has happened.
Thank you Sharleen… Stay blessed baby girl❤💓💞
